9 non-restrictive weight loss/health tips
Do you want to lose weight but don’t want to give up all the things you enjoy?
Getting healthy and losing weight doesn’t have to be all about elimination.
There are actually quite a few ways to improve your health that don’t require restrictive dieting.
1. Prioritize protein
You don’t have to go overboard here, just have a general understanding that protein helps you feel fuller longer.
2. Increase fruit and veggie intake
Fruits and vegetables are full of fiber and it’s pretty difficult to overeat these foods…especially veggies!
3. Increase water consumption
Ever been hungry and drank a big glass of water, only to realize you’re not actually hungry anymore? Happens to me all the time.
4. Eat slower
When you slow down and stay present you’re more likely to realize when you are full and satiated.
5. 10 minute walk after meals
Not only can light exercise be a powerful appetite suppressant, but if you take a small walk after each meal, your total activity level can significantly compound over time.
6. Prioritize sleep habits
Sleep is one of the best kept secrets for burning fat.
7. Lift weights
More muscle means a higher resting metabolic rate, which in turn requires more caloric output.
8. Practice active relaxation – e.g. meditation, yoga, etc.
When we are constantly strung out it can dramatically impact the way we feel and perform. Spend time taking care of yourself so that you can produce better effort when it’s time to exercise, work, and play.
9. Cold showers, sauna, cryotherapy, etc.
Exposing your body to controlled stressors can cause you to become more resilient and better equipped to handle life’s challenges. Additionally, these things can increase your caloric expenditure and even help you burn fat.
Commit to some of these practices and see what changes you start to notice…And don’t forget to enjoy yourself along the way!
